Tranquil casting is the second most frequently used method of spellcasting throughout all mages. Tranquil casting is when the spellcaster's mind goes into an almost meditative state. While concentrating in this way the spellcaster can use natural forces to his/her advantage, and therefore the probable disadvantage of his adversaries. Tranquil casting is the weakest of all forms of casting, and is the most mentally, but least physically tiring on the user. It is preferred by elven and gnome mages, who have little to give physically, but have mental abilities far beyond most humans. Quite obviously, because the mage is in a trance like state, they are unable to defend theselves, and require either a bodyguard or a good hiding location to be of any real use.
